As a coastal town on the shores of the Adriatic sea, Monfalcone has developed industries manufacturing ships, airplanes, textiles, steel, chemicals, and refined oil, but it is quickly turning into a centre for trade and services thanks to the harbour.

The sand beaches are all low and marked by a slightly sloping sea level. There are several sailing clubs and associations from where boats set off on journeys through the Adriatic sea.

The Carsic land is marked by a unique feature with its highland and rocky hills. The tourism potential is granted by the net of trails and paths running all over it and showing a variety of plants and greens. The highland of Carso has also got a cultural and historical value since it is the heritage of the battle field of the first world war, still scarred by trenches and manufacts.

The Carso also hosts the ancient Rock of Monfalcone, a fortified building of Medieval origins which is the symbol of the town.
